Nepal marked Democracy Day today with a grand special ceremony at Tundikhel in the capital, celebrating the country’s democratic journey and achievements.
The main event, organized by the National Democracy Day Main Ceremony Committee, was held at the Military Stage in Tundikhel on Thursday morning. The programme featured a march past by security personnel, along with vibrant cultural dance and musical performances.
President Ramchandra Paudel attended the ceremony accompanied by First Lady Sabita Paudel. The Nepal Army paid a ceremonial salute in honour of the Head of State.
The event was also graced by Vice President Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav, Prime Minister Sushila Karki, National Assembly Chairperson Narayan Prasad Dahal, ministers, senior government officials, heads and representatives of foreign diplomatic missions in Nepal, and other distinguished personalities from various sectors.
The government declared a public holiday across the country to mark the occasion.
